18 Aug Who is Live-in Care Suitable for?
Here at Francis House Homecare we put our heart & soul into making life as stress-free & comfortable as we can for those who may have survived a stroke, have diabetes, arthritis, mobility issues, Dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, Multiple Sclerosis or a physical/mental disability. Our care service is available for individuals & couples, responding to everyone’s unique circumstances. Live-in care is particularly useful for, but not limited to those who are:
- currently receiving domiciliary care but feel it is not sufficient (homecare)
- currently in a nursing or residential home
- a couple or family wanting to stay together
- being discharged from hospital
- Someone requiring care who lives alone
1. Currently receiving domiciliary care
Live-in care is the perfect option for someone receiving daily care visits, but more care is required. Domiciliary care involves home visits throughout the day. Whereas live-in care provides 24/7 support, with the carer typically working on a ‘4 weeks on, 1 week off’ basis.
2. Residing in a nursing or residential home
Yourself or a loved one may have given residential care a go, however found that it was a struggle to settle in, found being around unfamiliar faces quite daunting or found it difficult to find comfort. Is this you? We’ll work with any health & social care professionals to get your loved one home.
3. Couples & families wanting to stay together
We understand how life-changing it can be to have a partner, father, grandfather, sibling etc. move into a residential home. Often, the best & most cost-effective way for couples & families to stay together is to opt for care within their own home. The needs of the care recipient & the needs of their loved ones are all important to us at Francis House Homecare. We also offer spousal support to your care package for a very small fee!
4. How quickly can live-in care be arranged?
No matter whether your loved one is being discharged from hospital, or family circumstances have changed quickly, we can respond quickly. Depending on the urgency of the care being arranged & the care required, our live-in care services can be arranged within a few days up to 2 weeks. However, arranging live-in care isn’t a process that should be rushed – we’ll work with you to make sure we get it right.
5. Those being discharged from hospital
If your loved one is in hospital with a complex or chronic condition, it is an exciting moment to have them back home, but have you got a care plan in place? Live-in care is one of the quickest alternatives to a residential, alongside domiciliary care, to arrange. Live-in care can be arranged within a few days up to a couple of weeks, depending on how urgently you require our services & what suits you best. We can even arrange for the carer to meet them at the hospital before being discharged, to ensure your loved one gets home safely.
6. In need of 24/7 care but is living alone
Unfortunately, some people in need of care may live alone, no longer have many relatives around, have family members that are too busy to provide the care required & so on. If this sounds like you or a loved one, then live-in care is the perfect option for you! It is a huge peace of mind having a live-in carer to ensure medication is always administered correctly & on-time, the care recipient is eating & having food prepped safely, emergencies can be responded to immediately etc. Our trained & skilled carers are also matched based on common interests, hobbies & language, so not only are we providing an excellent carer, but also a great friend!
